Academy Objectives	Prepares students to understand the importance of public service and prepares them to work in a diverse array of jobs found in local, state, and federal government. The pathways within the academy provide the knowledge and skills to focus on protecting the country, representing interests abroad, or passing and enforcing laws.
Academy Description	The Business and Government Academy highlights organizational and leadership skills to prepare students to plan, direct, and evaluate operations to run a successful business or work in a government agency.

Pathway Objectives	Students examine the foundations of the American legal system and learn the rights and responsibilities of citizens and businesses. Students gain knowledge and skills by exploring economic and social concepts related to laws governing business and individuals. Students study basic management concepts and leadership styles as they explore business ownership, planning, operations, marketing, finance, economics, communications, the global marketplace, and human relations. Students gain an understanding of contracts, consumer protection, criminal law, tort law, international law, family/domestic law, employment law, cyber law, careers in the legal profession, project management, problem solving, and ethical decision making.

Pathway Objectives	Students learn how economies and markets operate and how the U.S. economy is interconnected with the global economy. Students learn how to navigate financial decision making and to make informed decisions relating to career exploration, budgeting, banking, credit, insurance, spending, financing postsecondary education, taxes, saving and investing, buying/leasing a vehicle, and living independently. Students also learn the importance of investing in themselves to gain valuable knowledge and skills. Development of financial literacy skills and an understanding of economic principles will provide the basis for responsible citizenship, more effective participation in the workforce, and career success.

Students develop a thorough understanding of fundamental marketing concepts and theories as they relate to the sports and entertainment industries. Students will investigate the components of customer service, branding, product development, pricing and distribution, business structures, sales processes, digital media, sponsorships and endorsements, as well as promotion needed for sports and entertainment events.
